After Chesapeake acquired Chief earlier this year, the company had duplicate office resources due to a field office transition. Rather than sell or dispose of these items, Chesapeake donated approximately $150,000 in furniture, office supplies and technology to the Loyalsock Township School District in North Central Pennsylvania.
“As Chesapeake transitioned Chief employees to our local office in Sayre, we recognized that we had quality resources that we could share,” said Jonah Howe, Marcellus Community Affairs at Chesapeake. “The Loyalsock Township School District was a worthy beneficiary as it serves so many of our neighbors in Lycoming County.”
Since Chief’s field office was in Montoursville, Chesapeake worked to keep the donation local — supporting the three schools making up the Loyalsock Township School District. The district received furniture for each school, monitors for computer labs and office supplies for students and faculty.
In part because of the funding saved from this donation, the district was able to accelerate a remodeling project for the front entrance of the elementary school. Other offices throughout the district were also upgraded with the donated furniture.
“Following a solid partnership with Chief Oil & Gas, we certainly appreciated a smooth transition with Chesapeake,” said Gerald McLaughlin, Loyalsock School District Superintendent. “This donation will benefit us for many years into the future, at all of our school buildings.”
