Recognizing Rig of the Quarter: ClearWell Dynamics (CWD) Rig 133

May 17, 2023
  • ClearWell Dynamics Rig 133 (South Texas) was named Rig of the Quarter for 1Q’23.
  • The Rig of the Quarter is a traveling award that honors contractors who go beyond company standards.
  • Rig 133 had zero incidents after working more hours than any other rig in the South Texas Business Unit.

Chesapeake’s HSER team recently awarded ClearWell Dynamics Rig 133 (South Texas) the Rig of the Quarter for 1Q’23. The Rig of the Quarter is a traveling award that honors contractors who go beyond company standards, recognizing the important role contractors play in Chesapeake’s safety and environmental performance.

Rig 133 had zero incidents and worked the most hours out of all rigs across Chesapeake’s South Texas Business Unit. The team accomplished this while working 24-hour operations, which required strong communication from everyone involved, from the tool pushers to the person in charge.

“CWD Rig 133 faces two unique challenges: managing two crews on the rig and simultaneously performing our most challenging well projects,” said Harris Marcom, Chesapeake HSE Workover Advisor. “They take ownership over their performance and consistently strive for improvement. When challenges arise, they work together to find solutions.”

At a meeting on April 19, the rig crews received a specially designed flag which will fly on their rig until the next honoree is announced. Quarterly winners are selected by our HSE Workover team, which grades each rig against a scorecard of safety and environmental criteria. These criteria include participation in the company’s Good Catch program, behavioral-based safety performance and engagement / reports within KPA (HSE performance management software).
