Local College Students Tour Haynesville Operations for ‘Real World’ Training

May 31, 2023

As part of Chesapeake’s community outreach efforts, the Haynesville team recently invited 12 students from Northwest Louisiana Technical Community College to tour our field operations. These students, currently enrolled in the school’s oil and gas-related programs, saw firsthand how the skills they are learning in the classroom can be applied in our industry.

“Seeing the level of safety awareness and teamwork demonstrated by Chesapeake employees and contractors was great ‘real world’ learning experience for our students working toward their future careers,” said Randell Caskey, Instructor for Industrial Maintenance at the community college.

The tour started with a safety orientation at the Mansfield office before the group departed for the field, where they visited a construction site and a production facility. During these visits, students learned about different roles and responsibilities on-site, equipment and their functions and potential career opportunities. The group ended with a lunch and Q&A session with Chesapeake employees.

“We touched on everything from how to get your foot in the door to best practices for success,” Chesapeake Senior Administrative Assistant Stormey Webster said. “Our hope is to excite and guide the next generation of oil and gas professionals.”
