Corporate Campus Hosts DEI Immersive Workshop for People Leaders

August 31, 2022

On Aug. 24, Chesapeake hosted a diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) immersive workshop for people leaders in Oklahoma City. The training session began with opening remarks by CEO Nick Dell’Osso, highlighting our commitment to increasing DEI across our company. Dell’Osso also announced the appointment of a DEI executive champion — Josh Viets, EVP and COO — who will serve as an advocate for company DEI initiatives and a liaison with the senior leadership team.

“We will only reach Chesapeake’s full potential with everyone’s contribution — not a select few perspectives,” said Dell’Osso. “Building a more inclusive culture starts with our core value of respect and takes awareness and daily action to help ensure everyone feels valued and heard.”

During the workshop, directors and above learned about the company’s DEI strategy and how to implement this strategy in our every day. They also heard from guest speaker Shalynne Jackson, principal consultant for a diversity and inclusion firm in Oklahoma City. Jackson has consulted with Fortune 500 companies and is Diversity Chair for the Oklahoma Human Resources State Council.

During Jackson’s presentation, she reiterated that a diverse and inclusive culture doesn’t happen overnight or because of a catastrophic change. Instead, she encouraged “micro moments” of inclusion and creating a space where everyone can “show up” — these are powerful contributors to a culture of trust and belonging. Chesapeake is committed to building this culture. To learn more our DEI strategy and initiatives, visit the DEI section of our ESG report.
