Chesapeake recently achieved a significant milestone for our portfolio — 100% of the company’s gas assets are now certified as responsibly sourced gas (RSG) according to third-party organizations. Chesapeake is the first producer to independently certify produced and marketed gas volumes across two industry leading gas plays.
Chesapeake embarked on this endeavor in 2021 for its legacy assets and, following the completion of two significant acquisitions in November 2021 and March 2022, fully navigated these new assets through the strict RSG certification process by year-end 2022.
RSG is natural gas produced by companies that meet strict ESG standards, including air emissions monitoring and reduction requirements. Chesapeake partnered with the MiQ methane standard, the EO100™ Standard for Responsible Energy Development and Project Canary® to certify our assets. Participation is voluntary and showcases both our commitment to ESG performance and our pursuit of continuous operational improvement.
